O Christmas Tree

Today was the big day! We headed out in search of the perfect tree! Jillian was so involved in picking the tree this year. We talked about several different possibilities along the way: very pretty but not tall enough, very tall but not enough branches, too round, too skinny, two headed!
Then, tucked way in the back of the tree farm hidden in a group of overgrown trees stood our perfect tree. Jillian was in charge of the tape measure. She "taped it" at "20 inches" -- just right in her estimation. Then, my turn to "tape it" -- 10 feet. More like it. So, we wandered off to "tape" some other trees while Chris sawed away.

When we heard timber we marched back over to find that Chris had our tree standing straight and tall for us to admire. What a beautiful tree!
We strapped it to the roof, paid the Lawrences, Jillian collected her annual candy cane (yes, she remembered from last year when she was EIGHTEEN MONTHS OLD that this kind woman hands out candy canes at the tree farm), and off we went. We made a quick stop at the store for some essentials including egg nog and hurried home for lunch.
While Jillian took a 2 1/2 hour nap (taping trees is hard work), Chris brought in the tree, secured it in our new AWESOME toddler-proof tree stand, and went to work stringing the lights. He finished just in time for Jillian to wake up and very sleepily ask, "Where is our tree?" Ta-da! It's in the living room all lit up! Can it get any more magical than that?
We put up all of our ornaments and layed out the tree skirt for the finishing touch. Tomorrow, we'll attempt to put the train around the tree. Any bets on how many times that choo choo will get derailed???

Jillian is SO sweet! I bet your Christmas tree smells divine! We go artificial. :( Not my choice.
